Delete your account

Foodakl keeps your food log, your photos, your weights and your settings on your phone, and uninstalling the app removes them. Photographs are sent to be read and never stored on our server.

So if you never made an account, there is no account to delete. A few small records exist for every installation whether or not anyone signed in; they are listed under What stays, with the reason for each.

• Your email address and the account itself
• Every encrypted backup you uploaded
• Everything you posted to the suggestion board, and your votes and reports
• Any sign-in codes still outstanding

Your backups are encrypted with a key that never left your phone, so they were never readable here in the first place — deleting them removes ciphertext we could not open.

It happens at once. The copies of our database made each night for recovery are deleted after fourteen days, so a removed record can survive in one of those for up to two weeks.

• Whatever is still on a phone. This form cannot reach a phone; uninstall the app to remove it.
• A share link you made stays live until it expires — thirty days at most. To end one sooner, use More → Account and sharing → Switch off every live link before you delete the account.
• Each phone’s installation record: a random identifier, a one-way hash of the identifier Android gives the app, trial and plan dates, and a count per day of readings and questions. It stays so that deleting an account cannot restart a free week.
• If you used an invitation: a one-way hash of your email address and the identifier of the phone that used it, so the same person or phone cannot claim an invitation twice. The hash cannot be turned back into your address.
• Records of subscription events the store reported — which plan, when, what changed — so we can answer anyone who writes in about a payment.
• If we edited or removed a board post of yours, our record of that moderation action keeps the words we changed.
• Server logs — the internet address a request came from, the address it asked for, the app or browser and the time — are deleted after fourteen days at most.

If you have a paid subscription, cancel it in Google Play or the App Store: billing is theirs, not ours, and deleting an account here does not end a subscription there. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
